PICTURE TUTORIAL: Set up Cempaka Email in Mail

Alright, in this tutorial you will learn how to set up your cempaka email account in Mail. Just pictures and words in this tutorial. I’m running on Leopard, anyway, it shouldn’t be any much difference. I already had an account in my Mail application, so I just add new account for demonstration. If there is any other information which I didn’t include in this post and you really want to know, you can check my other entries or you may leave a comment.

First:

Lastly, you will see the summary of your account information, just choose “create” and you are done.

If you are unsure of certain settings, you can always go to system preferences and reset the settings.

Choose OK, and save changes.

WRITTEN TUTORIAL: Set up Cempaka Email in Mail

Usually when there is something to do with settings, “preferences” is place you should go to.

1. In your Mail Preferences, make sure that you are under account information. Then check your email address and password are correct

Email Address: (your name)(year of graduation)@cempaka.edu.my

Password: (Student ID last four digits)

2. Incoming Mail Server: mail.cempaka.edu.my

3. Username: (same as email address but without @cempaka.edu.my)

4. Now go to the advanced tab, make sure the port number is “110″ and DO NOT check SSL.

5. Authentication: Password

6. Back to the account information, at the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose “Edit Server List”.

7. A new window will pop up, the Server Name would be “mail.cempaka.com.my“.

8. Go to the advanced tab of the same window, server port must be “27″ and DO NOT use SSL.

9. Authentication for this is “none“.

10. That’s all, close everything, save everything, happy receiving and sending mails.

VIDEO TUTORIAL: Set up Cempaka Email in Mail

I hope everyone’s cempaka email account is properly set up since it is a great privilege to cempakans, I doubt other school has this privilege.

The video at the bottom is a video tutorial on settings for Cempaka Email in Mail. Mail is actually an application that downloads mails from the server to your computer, and everything can be done without going through an internet browser such as safari. Before that, please make sure that you have your email address and password correct.

If you have an English name, your email address will be:

presley(English name)chiang(Surname)09(Graduation year)@cempaka.edu.my

If you don’t have an English name, your email address will be:

chiangkokwing(Full name)09(Graduation year)@cempaka.edu.my

By default, your password should be:

**** (last four digits of your Student ID)

For example: (SCC/2005/****)
